Famous Tamil Poets

Around the 6th to 12th century CE, the Tamil spitirual poems written by Tamil poets Nayanmars and Alvars (sages) nourished the great Bhakti movement which later surrounded the whole India. In the late nineteenth century a revitalization of Tamil literature took place when works of spiritual and philosophical sort were written in a form that made it easier for the ordinary folks to enjoy. The Great Tamil Poet Subramania Bharathi,started the modern Tamil literary movement.

Tipu Sultan of Mysore

"It is far better to live for two days like a lion than for two hundred hears like a lamb." These valiant words came from the lips of Tipu Sultan, the famed martyr in the cause of freedom. His own life established the truth of this statement. He brawled like a lion against the British for safeguarding India's freedom and died like a lion on the battle field.
