Chennai formerly known as Madras is the capital of the southern state of Tamil Nadu in India. It is the country's fourth largest city. It is located on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal. This 367 year old city has an estimated population of 9 million. It is the 34th largest metropolitan area in the world and it has the 2nd longest seashore in the world. Despite being an important city for manufacturing, health care, and IT, Chennai has managed to maintain a spaciousness that's lacking in other major Indian cities. It's a rambling and busy, yet a conservative city with deep traditions and culture that are yet to give way to the growing foreign influence here. Mamallapuram, an annex of this city is known for its sandy beaches, stone carvings, food and resorts. Tipu Sultan of Mysore

"It is far better to live for two days like a lion than for two hundred hears like a lamb." These valiant words came from the lips of Tipu Sultan, the famed martyr in the cause of freedom. His own life established the truth of this statement. He brawled like a lion against the British for safeguarding India's freedom and died like a lion on the battle field.
